Mr. Donato has a broad range of experience in the financial industry, including trading, brokering, and creating and managing real-time trading systems for inter-dealer markets. John began his career with trading and risk management roles in fixed income and foreign exchange markets with commercial banks in New York. Among the markets he traded are Spot FX, US Treasury securities, repurchase agreements, CMOs, SBA Loan Pools, Fed Funds and Eurodollar deposits. He also has experience as an inter-dealer broker in the interest rate derivatives markets and Forward FX arbitrage.
Since 1996, John held senior positions in the interdealer broker industry, creating business plans and e-commerce strategies for electronic broking and trading. He designed matching engine algorithms and user interfaces, and managed functionality testing of those applications in the financial, foreign exchange, and energy markets.
He was a founding member of the Kent State MSFE Advisory Board, and also created the intensive Financial Engineering Capstone course as part of the MSFE program.
Matt Porio is the founding principal of Lucas & Associates, LLC. With a corporate career spanning over 25 years in capital markets, Matt has a wealth of experience creating financial and risk management solutions for companies of all sizes, across a variety of industries in the U.S. and overseas.
As an instructor and educator, Matt has worked with the top US and international banks and financial institutions delivering workshops and training seminars on all aspects of financial services, with a specialty in risk management, investment management and financial products. Over the course of the last seven years, Matt has delivered hundreds of training days to clients all over the world.
Prior to establishing Lucas & Associates, LLC, Matt held a number of senior positions with leading financial institutions. Most recently he worked for Bank of Ireland as Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Global Markets in its U.S. operations. Prior to that he was Chief Dealer and Head of Global Markets at American Express Bank, and previously a Vice President of Global Markets at Chase Manhattan Bank. He started his career with Salomon Brothers in their mortgaged backed securities group.
Matt holds a BA (cum laude) in Economics from Duke University and an MBA in Finance from the Fuqua School of Business; he also holds an MLIS from St. John’s University. Matt is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and holds an ACI Diploma. He is a member of the Association of Financial Professionals and the New York State Society of Security Analysts, as well. Matt currently sits on the advisory board of Blue Line Advisors, Bridge Financial Technology and is on the Staples High School Tuition Grant Board of Directors.
Mayra Rodriguez Valladares
Mayra Rodríguez Valladares has over two decades of consulting and training experience in financial regulations, structured finance products, capital and derivatives markets, risk management, risk based supervision and in various facets of the energy sector. Since 1998, she has been Managing Principal of MRV Associates, Inc. Her work has been with private sector banks, and companies, US regulators, foreign central banks and capital markets regulators, NFA, CME Group, USAID, World Bank, FIRST Initiative, GTZ, NGOs, and not-for-profit organizations.
She has managed and trained successfully multinational teams through live and virtual platforms in Latin America, China, India, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hong Kong, Japan, Nigeria, Russia, Sudan, UK, and the US. Her key areas of expertise are finance (credit, market and operational risks, capital markets, derivatives, structured finance products, Basel III and risk based supervision), and energy.
She has created and taught courses in finance, marketing, business planning, risk management and capital markets in Russian and Spanish, as well as in English. She is multilingual and has published extensively in the UK and the US.
